Is Grumpy

I get paid $17 per hour.  I work 32 hours per week.  Work it out.  It's not much.

On Friday, I was interviewed for a job with Coles.  The person interviewing me looked a little embarrassed when she said the pay rate was $19 per hour.

Frankly, it's about time that I got my shite together and challenged my employer.  He's getting away with murder,. $17 per hour is criminal, and I'm one of the best paid people in the place.

So, do I challenge this and maybe get a better rate of pay?  Or do I challenge this and get everyone a better rate of pay?  Or do I just keep on taking the shit?

Does your current job offer more to you than monetary rewards? And how hard would a replacement job be to find? If money is the primary benefit from your current job I think (I hope) that I would be challenging your boss - for you and everyone else. Easier said than done I know. Good luck.

Thanks EC

I've been looking for another job for about 18 months with no success. Last count showed about 60 applications made, many interviews had and coming in second or third most of the time. Usually because they thought I was overqualified.

The employer is pretty Dickensian (think Ebenezer Scrooge). Industrial relations wise the place should be illegal.

I just have to keep on trying.

That 'over-qualified' thing is a crock of crap, isn't it?

I know this sounds crazy, but have you tried dumbing down your CV?

Yep Ampy.

Have dumbed down the CV. Who knows what they want....
